Itinerary

Day 1: Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico! Upon arrival, we’ll provide a transfer to the hotel, after which you will have free time. Our guide will contact you late in the afternoon.

IMPORTANT: If you requested additional nights, your room will be ready upon arrival at the hotel, but your trip guide will only contact you when the included activities begin. Until then, you’ll have free time to enjoy at your leisure.

Note: The schedules provided in this itinerary are indicative. The guide may adjust them as needed to enhance the trip experience.
Day 2: Mexico City - Teotihuacan - Mexico City
Total distance covered: 90 km.

Scenery: We will travel through the central highlands of Mexico, between urban areas and semi-arid fields, until we reach the imposing plain where the pyramids of Teotihuacán stand, framed by hills and maguey vegetation.

08.45 a.m. Mexico City – Departure after breakfast. We will begin our tour with a brief stop at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, where pre-Hispanic vestiges, colonial architecture and modern elements converge. We will continue towards the northeast until we reach one of the most emblematic archaeological sites in the country.

10:30 a. m. Teotihuacan (entrance included) – Arrival. We will explore the ancient sacred city, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site. We will visit the majestic Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the temple of Quetzalpapálotl, the citadel and the Avenue of the Dead. We will also visit a craft center where we will learn about ancient techniques for making obsidian and other typical materials.

Teotihuacan – Departure, back to the capital. Before returning to Mexico City, we will make a special visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of America and main pilgrimage center on the continent, where we will contemplate its modern architecture and the original cloak of Lady of Guadalupe.

Return to the hotel and rest of the day free.

Accommodation.
Day 3: Mexico City - Tuxtla Gutiérrez - Sumidero Canyon - San Cristóbal de las Casas
Total distance covered: 85 km (approx. on the road, not counting flight).

Scenery : During our journey we will travel through green tropical valleys, with views of jungle hills and mighty rivers that cross the heart of Chiapas, one of the most biodiverse regions in Mexico.

Note: For the boat ride in the Sumidero Canyon it is recommended to pack a hat, sunscreen and light clothing. The boat is shared with other travelers and the waiting time for departure will depend greatly on the influx that day.

First thing in the morning, transfer to the airport to take a flight from Mexico City to Tuxtla Gutiérrez that will take less than two hours . Upon arrival, the local team will be waiting to take us to the next location.

11:00 a.m. Sumidero Canyon – Arrival. This amazing geographical feature, formed more than 35 million years ago, will show us an unparalleled natural spectacle. We will take a boat ride of just over an hour along the Grijalva River, surrounded by imposing vertical walls that exceed 1,000 meters. Wildlife will be the protagonist: crocodiles peeking out from among the rocks, exotic birds flying over the waters and monkeys playing on the branches.

3:00 p.m. Departure towards San Cristóbal de las Casas. The road ascends through winding mountain roads, revealing the high Chiapas jungle and panoramic views of exceptional beauty.

4:00 p.m. Arrival in San Cristóbal de las Casas. Transfer to the hotel. This colonial jewel, nestled in the highlands, stands out for its cobblestone streets, red tile houses and lively squares.

We’ll have the afternoon free to walk through its historic center, visit indigenous craft markets or enjoy a cup of coffee in its traditional patios.
Day 4: San Cristóbal de las Casas - San Juan Chamula - San Lorenzo - San Cristóbal de las Casas
Total distance covered: 40 km. (approximate route around San Cristóbal)

Scenery: We will explore the Chiapas highlands, surrounded by pine-covered mountains and morning mist, as we venture into Indigenous communities that maintain a deep connection with the land and their ancestral traditions.Note: It is recommended to dress respectfully in accordance with local customs. Taking photographs inside Indigenous temples is strictly prohibited.

09:00 a.m. – San Cristóbal de Las Casas – Departure.
After breakfast, we will embark on an enriching excursion accompanied by a lo-cal tour operator to visit the surrounding Indigenous villages.

09:30 a.m. – San Juan ChamulaWe will visit this emblematic Tzotzil community, known for its mystical fusion of Catholicism and ancient Mayan beliefs. Its main church, the spiritual heart of the town, is remarkable for its healing rituals, the use of candles, herbs, and chickens, and the absence of pews. Our local guide will explain the customs and religious symbols present in this community.

11:00 a.m. – Departure from San Juan Chamula

11:30 a.m. –San Lorenzo Zinacantán -Arrival.Surrounded by flower fields, this Tzotzil village stands out for its colorful tradi-tional clothing. We will visit the workshop of a local artisan family to learn about their ancestral backstrap loom weaving techniques and to talk about their daily life and spirituality.

12:30 p.m. – Departure from Zinacantán

1:00 p.m. – San Cristóbal de Las Casas – Arrival and guided city Tour.
We will visit the Temple of Santo Domingo, with its splendid Baroque façade; the modest yet charming Church of La Caridad; the lively Handicrafts Market; and the fascinating Jade Museum and Amber Museum. We will also have free time to shop and enjoy lunch at our own pace.
Day 5: San Cristóbal de las Casas - Grutas del Mamut - El Arcotete - San Cristóbal de las Casas
Total distance covered: 50 km (approximate route around San Cristóbal)

Scenery: Throughout the day, we’ll explore the natural wonders of the Chiapas highlands—coniferous forests, ancient caves, and stunning rock formations sur-rounded by dense vegetation and crystal-clear rivers that bring the landscape to life.

8:00 a.m. – Depart from San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
We’ll start a full-day trip with a local tour guide to discover some of the most amazing eco-parks around the area.

8:30 a.m. – Mammoth Caves (Las grutas del Mamut)
We’ll start at this impressive cave, named after a rock formation shaped like a mammoth. Inside, the mix of light and shadows over the limestone creates a magical, almost mysterious vibe—perfect for nature lovers and geology fans.

10:30 a.m. – Arcotete Ecoturism Park
Next, we’ll visit this beautiful natural park filled with lush greenery and plenty of wildlife. The highlight is a massive natural stone arch carved over thousands of years by the Fogótico River. You’ll also see caves, rock formations, and lots of stalactites throughout the site.

12:30 p.m. – Rancho Nuevo Ecoturism Park
These caves stretch over 10 kilometers and reach depths of up to 550 meters. A 750-meter lit walkway lets you safely explore the space and see all kinds of amazing formations created by stalactites and stalagmites. The park also offers optional activities like horseback riding or hiking—great for those who want to stick around a bit longer.

3:30 p.m. – Return to San Cristóbal de Las Casas

The afternoon is free to relax or keep exploring this charming colonial city at your own leisure.

Day 6: San Cristobal- Ocosingo- Agua Azul- Misol Ha- Palenque.-
Distance travelled: 225 km Landscape: Beautiful mountain landscapes of Chiapas. Villages which retain their ancient Mayan language and traditions.


Important: We suggest you bring comfortable clothes and shoes, insect repellent and sunscreen - as well as a bathing suit and a towel, to fully enjoy the natural waterfalls and spectacular blue river water.


08:00 - San Cristobal, we head to central Chiapas.
10:45 - OCOSINGO. We stop at the commercial regional capital situated on dairy-farmlands, next to the north Chiapas range, where incredible archaeological remains are found.


11:45 - Ocosingo- departure - We get back on the road and drive through mountains and jungle.
13:45 - Parque Nacional de AGUA AZUL (Agua Azul National Park). Entrance fee and lunch included after the visit, time to have a walk or bathe in the pools and more than 50 waterfalls, which range from 3 to 30 meters in height.


16:30 Agua Azul- departure.
17:45 - MISOL HA. Arrival at this impressive waterfall and its walking trails.


19:00 - Misol Ha- departure.
20:45 - Palenque- arrival. Dinner included.


Important: in some instances, roadblocks might be experienced in the region of Ocosingo due to local social unrest. In that event, we would take an alternative route visiting the City of Villahermosa and the ecological reserve of Yumka instead of the usual stops at Ocosingo, Agua Azul and Misol.
Day 7: Palenque - Campeche.-
Total distance: 360 km.

Scenery: Yucatan Peninsula. Beautiful views over the coastal road of the Gulf of Mexico.


09.00 hrs.- We include entrance and guided visit to the impressive archaeological site of PALENQUE. This Mayan city, surrounded by jungle, reached its peak between 600 and 800 AD. During the visit we will see its temples, pyramids and ball game. Free time for lunch.


12.30 hrs.- Palenque -departure-. We travel to the Gulf of Mexico through the state of Tabasco.
18.30 hrs.- CAMPECHE- Arrival to this Mexican port city known for its colonial buildings and 17th century fortifications created to confront pirate attacks. Dinner included.
Day 8: Campeche - Mérida
Total distance covered: 180 km.

Scenery: We’ll travel through the Yucatán Peninsula, passing flat landscapes dotted with lush vegetation and traditional villages along the way.

09:00 a.m. – Departure from Campeche. We’ll leave behind this coastal city and make our way into the state of Yucatán. In just over two hours, we’ll reach our destination.
11:30 a.m. – Mérida. Arrival in the vibrant capital of the state of Yucatán, a city rich in both colonial and Mayan heritage. We’ll visit the fortified Mérida Cathedral, the limestone Church of the Third Order, and the Montejo House—a 16th-century mansion that stands as a symbol of Spanish Plateresque colonial architecture.

Free afternoon. We suggest visiting the Museum of the Mayan World on your own.
In the evening, a transfer to the Zócalo will be included, so you can enjoy dinner and take in the lively atmosphere of the city.
Day 9: Mérida- Izamal- Chichen Itzá- Río Lagartos.-
Total distance: 290 km
Scenery: Nice stage to get to know the state of Yucatan.
N.B.- Remember to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, swimsuit and towel, sunscreen and mosquito repellent.


08.00 hrs- Merida- departure.
09.15 hrs- IZAMAL- arrival to one of the prettiest cities in Mexico, declared a "Magic town".

10.15 hrs- Izamal, departure.
11.30 hrs- CHICHEN ITZAN,- we include admission and a visit to the most important and renowned vestige of the Mayan civilization, a World Heritage Site where we see the mythical pyramid of Kukulcán and the warriors’ temple.

14.30 hrs - After the visit we include a Mayan cuisine lunch.

16.00 hrs- Chichen Itzan- We continue on our beautiful stage through the state of Yucatan.
18.15- RIO LAGARTOS, arrival to this small fishing village in the middle of a Biosphere Reserve.


Note: The hotel infrastructure in Rio Lagartos is very limited. Occasionally, we will have to provide accomodation in Valladolid. In that case, we will visit Valladolid on Sunday instead of Monday and spend more time in Rio Lagartos on Monday.


Day 10: Río Lagartos- Valladolid- Cenote Choj Ha- Cancún.-
Distance: 265 km.

Note: Remember to bring comfortable clothes and shoes, swimwear and towel, sunscreen and mosquito cream.


08.00 hrs.- We include a boat ride of more than two hours. We enter the biosphere reserve, where we can see crocodiles among its mangroves, lots of birds, including pelicans and pink flamingos. You can also "live the mud experience" by smearing mud with high concentrations of sulfur, minerals and salts that act as exfoliants for the skin, leaving a feeling of softness throughout the body.


11.30 hrs- Rio Lagartos, departure. We head to the interior of the peninsula.
14.00 hrs- VALLADOLID- arrival in the third largest city of the Yucatan with a very nice historical city center. We recommend that you have lunch in one of the restaurants in the main square.


16:00 hrs- Valladolid, departure.
17:00 hrs- CENOTE CHOJ HA. We will explore this Cenote managed by the local Mayan community. We will walk along a short trail in the jungle to visit the dry cave and swim in the wonderful lake inside the wet cave.

18:00 hrs- Cenote, departure. Continuation to Cancun.
21.30 hrs- CANCUN, arrival.
Day 11: Cancun.-
Our services end after breakfast. We suggest that any travellers who wish to extend their stay for a few days can do so resting by the beautiful beaches of Cancun or the Riviera Maya.
