Day 1: Madrid- Yeclas canyon- Santo Domingo de Silos- Covarrubias- Burgos.-
Welcome to your Europamundo Trip Style tour!
We leave Madrid around 8.30, today part of the route is made through small roads that will allow us to get to know the interior of Castile with its small charming villages and medieval castles. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
Our first stop will be at the Yecla’s Gorge, an impressive walkway-shaped passageway inside a canyon created by the natural erosion of a stream between the rocks. We walk along the path enjoying nature. We continue to the Monastery of SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS, we include a visit to the monastery and the Romanesque cloister. During religious acts – on Sundays and holidays – its monks still sing the exciting "Gregorian chants" that transports us centuries back.
We continue our journey through Castilian lands, until we reach COVARRUBIAS, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain and one of the best examples of conservation of rural and vernacular architecture. It’s a highlight the Tower of Fernán González, a defensive tower of the tenth century, with vestiges of Mozarabic architecture.
We continue to BURGOS, free time for lunch. This city has been declared by UNESCO "creative city of gastronomy" enjoy your food!. Then, with our guide we visit the historic center, crowned with the Cathedral of Burgos (entrance included), considered the most representative Gothic cathedral of Spain World Heritage of UNESCO, we also go to the Monastery of Las Huelgas (entrance included), with its royal burials and visit Museum of Human Evolution (entrance included), which tells us about the evolution of the human species and the findings of neighboring Atapuerca (where the oldest human presence in Europe has been located).
