Itinerary

Day 1: Palermo
Welcome to Palermo! Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, with some free time to follow. Home to over half a million people, Palermo—the capital of Sicily—is a dynamic city full of contrasts. Its impressive architecture reflects a unique blend of Arab, Norman, Aragonese, and Baroque influences. With a mild climate year-round, vibrant energy, and rich culinary traditions, Palermo is a city that leaves a lasting impression.
Day 2: Palermo
Total distance covered: 40 km.


09:00 a.m. – Today, we’ll embark on a guided city tour of Palermo with a local expert. Highlights include the cathedral, famous for its blend of architectural styles and royal tombs (admission included), and the Palazzo dei Normanni, a former royal palace with fountains, markets, and gardens. We’ll also visit Monreale to see its cathedral (admission included), a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its breathtaking golden mosaics that adorn the entire interior. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure.


Note: For smaller groups, the tour may be conducted as part of a regular excursion offered by local companies instead of a private tour.



Day 3: Palermo - Cefalù - Castelbuono - Tindari - Milazzo
Total distance covered: 240 km.

Scenery: Northern Sicily’s landscapes and the Tyrrhenian Sea coast.

08:30 a.m. – After breakfast, we’ll depart from Palermo, following the scenic Tyrrhenian Sea coast.
09:45 a.m. – Arrival in Cefalù, a charming coastal town renowned for its Norman cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with unique architecture and stunning mosaics. The historic center is a delightful mix of narrow streets, sea views, and commercial and tourist life. You’ll have time to explore and enjoy lunch.

01:30 p.m. – Departure from Cefalù. We’ll leave the coast behind and head into the mountainous interior.
02:15 p.m. – Arrival in Castelbuono, a quaint town nestled in the mountains. You’ll experience the peacefulness of Sicily’s inland villages and admire the town’s medieval walls, castle, and picturesque streets.

03:30 p.m. – Departure from Castelbuono. We’ll return to the Tyrrhenian Sea coast.
05:00 p.m. – Arrival in Tindari, where we’ll visit the Sanctuary of Tindari, perched high on a mountain with stunning views of the sea. This renowned pilgrimage site is home to the Black Madonna and offers breathtaking scenery. Nearby, you can also explore the ruins of an ancient Greek polis.

06:00 p.m. – Departure from Tindari.
06:45 p.m. – Arrival in Milazzo, a bustling port city with views of the volcanic Aeolian Islands.
Day 4: Milazzo - Lipari - Vulcano - Taormina
Total distance covered by road: 95 km.

Scenery: Volcanic landscapes of the Aeolian Islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Notes:
-We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and swimwear if you want to experience the mud baths on Vulcano. Also, bring a jacket to enjoy the ferry deck.
-Ferry schedules may vary, and our itinerary will be adjusted accordingly.

We’ll have an exciting day ahead as we explore two islands in the Aeolian archipelago, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites known for their ongoing volcanic activity.

09:00 a.m. - After breakfast, we’ll head to the port for our ferry to Lipari. Departure is scheduled for 09:30 a.m. Enjoy the ride.
11:45 a.m. - Lipari. We’ll arrive at the largest of the Aeolian Islands, named after the son of Aeolus. You’ll have time for lunch and to explore this charming island’s historic center, castle, and lively tourist spots.

02:30 p.m. - Departure from Lipari. We’ll board another ferry for a short ride to Vulcano, the second island on our itinerary.
02:55 p.m. - Arrival in Vulcano, the legendary site where Hephaestus, the forger of Zeus’s lightning bolts and Poseidon’s trident, had his forge. The island is filled with the distinctive smell of sulfur and dotted with active fumaroles, creating a truly distinctive environment. Dominated by its crater, Vulcano boasts hot water beaches and the chance to bathe in sulfurous thermal waters. Their mud is renowned for its skin benefits. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind experience.

05:50 p.m. – Departure from Vulcano. We’ll take a ferry back to Sicily.
07:30 p.m. –Milazzo. From here, we’ll continue our journey to Taormina.

09:00 p.m. – Arrival in Taormina, marking the end of our day.

Notes:
-During the summer or on special dates, accommodation may be arranged in Messina instead of Taormina.
-In some cases, the lunch included the following day will be replaced by dinner in Taormina upon arrival.
Day 5: Taormina
Taromina – free day. This enchanting and small coastal city, nestled at the foot of Mount Etna is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean. Winston Churchill once described it as the most beautiful place on earth. Take time to stroll through the vibrant historic quarter, visit the Greek theatre with its breathtaking views, or relax on the beaches. Lunch and dinner will be included.


Note: In some cases, the included lunch for this day will be replaced by dinner upon arrival in Taormina the previous night.


Day 6: Taormina - Noto - Syracuse - Agrigento
Total distance covered: 350 km.


Scenery: Hills, perched villages, olive trees, and stunning sea views.


08:30 a.m. - Departure from Taormina. We’ll travel through beautiful Mediterranean landscapes.


10:30 a.m. - Syracuse. Our guide will tell you all about this city, which once rivaled Athens and Rome for its power and splendor. You’ll have time to visit the impressive archaeological site and explore the magnificent historic center, which is extremely well-preserved. There will be a break for lunch.


02:00 p.m. - Departure from Syracuse.
02:45 p.m. - Noto. Guided walk through this baroque jewel of a city. Although not widely known as a tourist destination, it boasts a magnificently preserved monumental heritage and historical center from the baroque period.


04:30 p.m. - Departure from Noto. We’ll take scenic roads through the island’s interior.
08:00 p.m. - Agrigento. From the coach, we’ll admire the magnificent complex of the Valley of the Temples. Dinner will be included.



Day 7: Agrigento - Marsala - Erice - Palermo
Total distance covered: 300 km.


Today we’ll explore archaeological sites that highlight the influence of ancient Greece in Sicily. Accompanied by a local guide, we’ll visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, an impressive archaeological site renowned for its well-preserved Greek temples (admission included).


11:00 a.m. - Departure from Agrigento.
01:30 p.m. - Marsala. Arrival in this historic city known for its vibrant atmosphere and famous wine. We’ll have time for lunch.


03:00 p.m. - Departure from Marsala. We’ll continue our journey around the scenic Marsala salt pans.
04:15 p.m. - Erice. This picturesque Phoenician town, perched atop a hill and surrounded by ancient walls, invites us to take a leisurely stroll.


05:15 p.m. - Departure from Erice.
07:15 p.m. - Palermo. Dinner and accommodation.


Day 8:
After breakfast, our journey will come to an end, leaving you with wonderful lasting memories.

Note: Please be aware that the hotel check-out time is usually 10:00 a.m. You can leave your luggage in reception upon check-out, allowing you to explore the city without carrying your bags. You can retrieve your luggage at your convenience later in the day. If you require additional time to use your room, we recommend booking an extra night at the end of your tour.
