Itinerary

Day 1:
Welcome to your Europamundo Trip Style!!! The information about the meeting place and start time of your circuit can be found on your voucher.
Day 1: Edimburgo – South Queen´s Ferry - St. Andrews - Lago Ness - Drumnadrochit,- Inverness.-
We will leave Edinburgh and cross the iconic suspension bridge over the Firth of Forth towards the Scottish Highlands. After a brief photo stop at South Queens ferry to take a visual souvenir of the three bridges that cross the estuary, we will head to SAINT ANDREWS, a beautiful university town known as “home of golf”. In St. Andrews we will visit the ruins of its cathedral founded in the XII century, one of the largest in Great Britain and whose remains will give us an idea of how majestic it was in the Middle Ages. Along the cliffs and a short distance from the sea, we will find Saint Andrews Castle. We will visit it (entrance fee included) to discover its tunnels and dungeons losing track of time.

In the afternoon, we will head to Loch Ness, Scotland´s most famous lake, home to Nessie. We will enjoy the beautiful views of the huge and mysterious loch (a Gaelic word for “lake”) until we reach the small village of DRUMNADROCHIT where we will take a pleasant stroll.


We will continue our route to the capital of the Highlands, INVERNESS. Here, we will enjoy the pleasant views of the banks of the River Ness, with its castle dominating the city. Accommodation.
Day 2: Inverness – Dunrobin Castle - Scrabster- Stromess – Orkney Islands- Kirkwall.-
We will leave Inverness and head north. We will visit one of the most impressive castles in Scotland, DUNROBIN CASTLE (entrance fee included). It has been the official residence of the Count of Sutherland and it was first built in the Middle Ages, even if it has been reformed later. Its 189 rooms make it one of the biggest in the country.

We will then depart for SCRABSTER, an important fishing village on the north coast of Scotland. From there we will travel by ferry to Stromness, in Orkney Islands, an archipelago of 70 islands, of which only 20 are inhabited. We will be surprised by its cliffs, the diversity of birds and with luck we will be able to see seals in its waters. Due to its proximity to Norway, it has a strong Viking legacy. It is believed that they landed there in the 8th century and in a short time their culture spread throughout the Orkney and Shetland Islands.


To end our day, we reach the capital of the archipelago, KIRKWALL, a bustling city that is home to the impressive St. Magnus Cathedral, with its red sandstone and stained glass windows. Accommodation.
Day 3: Kirkwall Orkney Islands – Maeshowe – Skara Brae - Ring of Brodgar- Stromness– Yesnaby - Italian Chapell- Kirkwall.-
This day we will live an unforgettable experience visiting several of the Orkney Islands. We will cross from one island to another through the old Churchill barriers, built to prevent the passage of German submarines during World War II. Today they are used as roads. We will discover the burial chamber of Maeshowe (entrance fee included), one of the largest Neolithic burial mounds in Europe. Inside it, we will find the largest Viking inscriptions and remains to be found outside Scandinavia. We will visit an ancient and mysterious place: the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae (entrance fee included), an extensive and practically intact settlement located in the bay of Skaill. From there we head to the Ring of Brodgar, a cromlech (stone circle) built around 2500 B.C. Maeshowe, SkaraBrae and the Ring of Brodgar have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Back in KIRKWALL , we will visit its distillery (entrance fee included). Here one of Scotland´s finest whiskies is produced: he famous Highland Park has a Viking soul. We will now head to STROMNESS, a beautiful fishing village where we will be able to taste its famous fish-based gastronomy.


After lunch, we will discover the spectacular cliffs of Yesnaby, which will take your breath away. We will then make a short stop at the charming little Italian Chapel, built from recycled materials by Italian prisoners of war captured in Africa during World War II.


Return to KIRKWALL and Accommodation.
Day 4: Kirkwall – Thurso – Smoo Cave – Durness – Ardvreck Castle –Ullapool.-
Today we leave the Orkney Islands. We will return by ferry from Stromness to Scrabster and from there to THURSO where we will have time for a pleasant stroll around the harbour.

Our route today through the northern coast of Scotland will allow us to enjoy some of the most impressive landscapes in our trip. We will stop at Smoo Cave, a huge cave made by the sea where pirates used to hide in the past. We will visit DURNESS, a charming village at the top of a Cliff with an easy access to a beach of cold waters. We will stop here for our lunch.


In the evening, on our way to Ullapool, we will stop briefly to take a picture of the ruins of Ardvreck Castle. It was built by Clan MacLeod during the 16th century and there are many legends and stories about it that our guide will reveal to us. Arrival to ULLAPOOL, a small town created in the 18th century as a herring fishing port. Accommodation.
Day 5: Ullapool – Isle de Skye- Portree.-
Today we will head south to the famous ISLE OF SKYE also known as the Fairy Isle because of its breathtaking scenery and hidden spots. Be prepared, this place sums up all the magic of Scotland. We will see the natural wonder known as Kilt Rock, an impressive waterfall on a majestic cliff. Its name comes from the resemblance of the cliffs to the famous Scottish kilt. After that, we will discover the Fairy Glen, a beautiful valley made up of dozens of miniature green hills, a place of myths, legends and magical creatures. Further west we´ll find Neist Point, a lighthouse on a spit of land mostly surrounded by the sea, one of the most photographed places in Scotland.

Accommodation in PORTREE, which in Gaelic means “Port of the King”, a charming and colourful village.
Day 6: Portree – Armadale – Mallaig – Glenfinnan – Fort William - Oban .-
First thing in the morning, we will leave Skye. From the town of ARMADALE, in the southern part of the isle, we will take a ferry to Mallaig on the mainland. Travelling along the iconic Road of the Isles we will stop briefly in Glenfinnan, which viaduct will look familiar, as it has been used frequently in Harry Potter films. After that, we continue our journey to FORT WILLIAM, a former military fort. The city has become famous because it is at the foot of the highest mountain in the United Kingdom, Ben Nevis, which rises to a height of 1,344 metres. After some time to stroll around Fort William, we will continue to OBAN, a lively fishing village where we will stay for the night. Accommodation.
Day 7: Oban – Glasgow – Edinburgo.-
