The capital city of San Jose, considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America, is located in the middle of the Central Valley in the center of the country. The city features popular tourist attractions, such as historical buildings, museums, theaters, artisan markets, beautiful parks, shopping centers, and a varied gastronomic scene. Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, your 4x4 rental car will be delivered to you at the hotel. Or, you will go by private transfer to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Plains region. Majestic in its grand stature, the volcano is one of the country’s natural wonders. While the volcano is quiet these days and there are no lava eruptions, you can still see clouds of smoke or ash emanating from the top of the cinder cone. As well, you can enjoy the plentiful hot springs in the area. Along your journey to the town of La Fortuna, at the base of the volcano, you will see agricultural plantations, large ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle farms. Overnight in your hotel in Arenal.

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, you will hike trails in the Arenal Volcano National Park. You will see how the forest vegetation and terrain have been affected by volcanic activity, including old lava flows. In the afternoon, enjoy the natural hot springs pools surrounded by lush gardens at your hotel, complete with spectacular views of the volcano. Temperatures in the thermal pools range from 83° to 104° F, and some have beautiful waterfalls. Overnight in your hotel in Arenal.

Breakfast in the hotel. This morning, you will travel to the warm coast of the Central Pacific. Manuel Antonio National Park is often called a natural jewel for its picturesque beauty and abundant wildlife diversity. It is one of the smallest parks, yet it is the most visited for its beautiful beaches. There are several trails for walking with many viewpoints, and there is a high probability of seeing animals in their natural habitat. At various points, the trails branch off and lead to four separate beaches: Espadilla Sur, Manuel Antonio, Escondida, and Playita, where you can swim in crystal clear, warm water. Breakfast in the hotel. Today you will enjoy a catamaran tour, departing in the afternoon during the summer season, or departing in the morning during the green season. Your 4-hour cruise takes you along the Manuel Antonio coast. You will search for dolphins and whales (during migration season), along with marine birds. Please note that wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed 100%, since they depend on weather and ocean conditions, as well as Mother Nature. The crew will serve a delicious lunch on board, and you will have the opportunity to swim. Overnight in your hotel in Manuel Antonio.

Breakfast in the hotel. You will depart in the morning to the Sierpe River. If you have a rental car, you will return it there. Your adventure begins at the La Hacienda dock, in the quiet town of Sierpe, where you will be transferred by boat for 90 minutes. The trip will take you through the most extensive mangrove wetland system on Central America's Pacific coast. You will have an excellent chance to see monkeys, crocodiles, and many birds. After you pass through the river's mouth into the ocean, you will follow the coast south. Depending on weather conditions, you have a chance to see dolphins and even whales. Overnight in your lodge in Corcovado.

Breakfast in the lodge. Today you will hike in the Corcovado National Park. Corcovado is the last sustainably-sized Pacific lowland rainforest in Central America, and it has been called "the most biologically intense place on Earth." The morning hours offer the best opportunity to observe wildlife and the incredible variety of birds that abound in the park. A river with a stunning waterfall is one of your destinations, where you can cool off in one of the pools. You will have a picnic lunch during the tour. Overnight in your lodge in Corcovado.

Breakfast in the lodge. Today’s adventure is a boat tour to the spectacular Caño Island Biological Reserve, which was once an important ceremonial site and cemetery for pre-Columbian indigenous people. The island has one of the most extensive coral formations and the best snorkeling conditions on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The place where you will snorkel offers the chance to see a variety of fish and marine mammals. After your return, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at the lodge's beach rancho. Breakfast in the lodge. This morning you will return by boat to the La Hacienda dock in the town of Sierpe. Then you will transfer to the Palmar Sur airstrip for your domestic flight to San Jose. From the domestic terminal at the San Jose airport, you will transfer to your hotel. Overnight in your hotel in San Jose.
